7th Zil haj and is the day of Shadat –e¬-Imam Mohammad Baqir AS .Imam Mohammad Baqir AS is the 5th successor of Prophet of Islam and 5th Imam according to Asna Ashria and is one of the 7th in the 14 masoomeen.He was son of Imam Ali Ibne Hussain Zain ul Abedeen.The name of mother of Imam Baqir AS was Umme Abdullah, daughter of Imam Hassan. Imam Mohammad Baqir AS inherited unique relation ship from his mother and father side. He was Alvi and was Najeeb ul Tarfain Hashmi Syed. That means he was Syed from both mother and father side. His father was Imam Ali Bin Hussain Zain ul Abedeen and his grand father was Imam Hussain. His mother was daughter of Imam Hassan and grand father from mother’s side was Imam Hassan. Imam Baqir AS was him self a father of Imam and also son of an Imam.
Birth of Imam Baqir AS

Imam Baqir AS was born on the first of Rajab 57 Hijri at Medina. His name was kept Mohammad according to the wish of the Holy Prophet. He was known as Abu Jafar, Baqir, Shakir and Hadi.
Kings during His Life Time
Muaviyya bin Abu Sufyan was the king at the time of 57th hijri.Yazid Bin Muaviyya became king in 60 hijri, then Muaviyya bin Yazid and Marwan bin Hakam became the heads from 65 Hijri to 86 Hijri. Abdul Mulk bin Marwan was king from 86 to 94 Hijri. Walid bin Abdul Mulk became king in 94 hijri. Walid bin Abdul Mulk killed Imam Zain ul Abeedeen in 95 Hijri and from that year started the Imamat of Imam Baqir AS. Imam Baqir AS continued Imamat from 95 Hijri to 114 Hijri and during this period of 20 years Walid bin Abdul Mulk,Salman Bin abdul Mulk.Umer Bin Abdul Aziz, Yazid Bin Abdul Mulk and Hisham Bin Abdul Mulk remained the heads during this period.
Imam Baqir AS in Karbala
Imam Baqir AS was two and half years of age, when had to leave Madina with his grand father Imam Hussain AS from Madina to Mecca and from Mecca to Karbala. He passed through the difficulties of the journey to Karbala. He remained in prison for one year in Damascus. Imam Baqir came to Madina on the 8th of Rabi ul Awaal in 62 Hijri. According to the Book Matalab us sool page 272, forty six years before the birth of Imam Baqir AS the Prophet of Islam through Jabar Bin Abdulla Ansari conveyed salam of Hazrat Mohammad PBUH to Imam Baqir AS. Nobody from Ahle -Bait –e-Rasool got this kind of an honor.According to historians one day Prophet Mohammad PBUH was keeping Imam Hussain in his lap that his companion Jabar bin Abdulla Ansari came to the Prophet. . The prophet said to Jabar,” Oh Jabar God will grant to my this son Hussain ,a son who will be having great knowledge and will be of my name, and you will remain alive till that time, and when you meet my that son convey my Salam to him. A time came when Jabar was able to convey the salam of the Prophet to Imam Baqir AS. According to one quotation one day we were sitting with Jabir that Imam Zain ul Abedeen came there with his son Baqir, Imam Zain ul Abedeen said to Imam Baqir,”kiss the head of your uncle Jabar.”Jabar embraced Imam Baqir and conveyed the Salam of the Prophet. Jabar requested surety of blessing of Imam Baqir in heavens. Performance of Haj at the age of seven years
Allama Jami writes according to Shawahed un Nabuwat page 183 quoted by one historian that one day I was going for Haj and passing through a dark jungle ,suddenly I saw a light in the jungle, and saw a child of seven years of age all alone, I went to him and asked ,”from where are you coming and where are you going,and you are not carrying any thing in the journey.” The seven years of age child replied,” I am coming from Almighty and going towards Him and my arrangement for the journey is Taqwa,I am Arabian from Quraish and am Alvi and my name is Mohammad bin Ali bin Hussain bin Ali Ibne Abu Talib.” After saying this, the child disappeared.
Death of Imam Baqir’s Father
Imam Baqir was thirty eight years old when Walid bin Abdul Mulk killed Imam Zain ul Abedeen in 95 Hijri. Imam offered the last rites and offered Namaz – e-Janaza of his father. Imam Zain ul abedeen nominated Imam Mohammad Baqir as his successor and Imam.
Imam Mohammad Baqir and Imam Abu Hanifa
According to Allama Shibli Naumani and Allama Ibne Yaqeem, Imam Abu Hanifa remained in the company of Imam Baqir AS and obtained knowledge of Hadees and Fiqa from the Imam Shia and Sunni sects both acknowledge that Imam Abu Hanifa obtained knowledge from Imam Baqir According to Sira tul Nauman walam ul Muqeneen vol.1 page 93Allama Shabradi Shafi writes that one day Imam Baqir AS asked Imam Abu Hanifa that.”I have heard that you assume and you connect sky with land is it correct?”Imam Abu Hanifa replied,” yes I assume and the reason is Hadees , Fiqa and News.” Imam Baqir AS said, “I ask you some questions, you answer the questions on the basis of your assumptions.” Imam Baqir asked Imam Abu Hanifa,”murder is bigger sin or Zina.” Abu Hanifa replied, “Murder is bigger sin.” Imam Baqir then asked, “Then why two witnesses are required for murder as against four required for Zina.” Abu Hanifa could not answer the question. Then Imam Baqir AS asked,”is prayer better than keeping fasts?” Abu Hanifa replied, “Prayer is better than Fasts.”Imam Baqir then asked, “Why a woman in periods is not required to offer prayers missed in the periods, as against the fast missed in the periods are required to be kept.”Abu Hanifa again could not reply. Imam Baqir asked Abu Hanifa,” Urine is more Najas or sperms.” Abu Hanifa replied,” Urine is more Najas.”Imam Baqir then asked, “Why after urinating you have only to make Woozoo as against ejaculating sperms you have to take a bath?” Abu Hanifa again could not answer, and requested the Imam to answer the questions for his knowledge. Imam Baqir said, “I will answer the questions on the condition that in future you will not assume.”Abu Hanifa promised, that he will not assume in future.
Imam Baqir replied, “two witnesses are required in murder as the murder is committed by one person, as against Zina where two persons are involved in the crime therefore witnesses of four persons are required, and the woman has to keep fasts once in a year, and to keep the fast missed during the periods is easier so, it is obligatory to keep fasts missed during the periods, as against the prayers missed in the periods comes each month so Almighty Has given this facility to condone the missed prayers during the periods, and you have not to take bath after every urination, be cause urine comes out, through the abdomen and many times during the day, but sperms come out ejaculating from the whole body ,therefore it is required to take bath every time. Abu Hanifa agreed with the Imam thanked, and went away.
Imam Baqir was called to Damascus
Allama Majlisi and Sayed Ibne Ta Oos write that Hisham bin Abdul Mulk in the last days of his power went to Mecca to perform Haj. He saw Imam Baqir AS and Imam Jafar –e-Sadiq .One day he saw Imam Jafar delivering a sermon that, we are Imams and are from the Ahle Bait-e-Rasool and our enemies will go to hell. Hisham was informed of this sermon .He kept quiet while in Mecca, but when he reached Damascus, he wrote to the governor of Madina, to send Imam Mohammad Baqir and Jafar-e-Sadiq to Damascus. When both the Imam reached Damascus they were not permitted to see the king in order to insult them. Hisham put them in prison.
Return from Damascus
Allama Majlisi writes that when Imam Mohammad Baqir AS was allowed freedom from the Prison and while coming back to Madina ,he saw a huge crowd .He enquired the reason ,he was informed that a Christian Scholar comes out from his house once in a year, and people have gathered to have his glimpse. Imam Baqir AS also sat there in the crowed. The Christian Scholar was a very old man; he came there and saw every side of the crowed, and asked the Imam,” Are you from us?”The Imam replied,” I am Mohammadan.”He further enquired are you literate or illiterate? Imam said, “I am not illiterate.”The Christian Scholar asked the imam that if you are literate I would like to ask you certain questions.”Imam allowed him to ask the questions. The Christian Scholar asked, “What is that time in day and night which does not come in day or in night. The Imam said,” just before Sun set, which neither come in night nor in day. He further asked, you people say that in heavens people will not be required to urinate, can you give such example from this world.” Imam replied,” The child in the abdomen of mother is not required to urinate although; the child gets food from the body of the mother. He further said the Muslims believe that by using fruits in heavens will not cause shortage of fruits. Is there any example from this world? Imam said you can lit thousands of lights from one light.” He asked, “Who were those two brothers who were born on the same day and will die the same day? But at the time of their death one was fifty years old and the other was one hundred and fifty years old. The Imam replied, “They were Aziz and Uzair both were Prophets and were born on the same day. After birth they lived together for thirty years, Prophet Aziz died and after hundred years were brought to life again, both lived together again and then died together. After listening to all of his questions, he embraced Islam.
Shadat of Imam Baqir
Hisham bin Abdul Mulk killed Imam Baqir AS through poison on 7th Zil Haji 114 Hijri at the age of 57 years in Madina and was buried in Janat ul Baqee grave yard.
Wives of Imam Baqir
Imam Baqir had four wives,Umme Farwa,Umme Hakeem,Laila and Umme Farwa bin Qasim bin Mohammad bin Abu Bakar,Imam Jafar and Abdulla were born from this Lady. Umme Hakim gave birth to Ibrahim and Abdulla and Laila Gave birth to Ali and Zainab. The fourth wife Umme Farwa gave birth to Umme Salma.
